More About Tournament of Champions |
|
Children are invited through their school systems to participate in Local. Regional & State competitions in each sports activity. (A child may join on an individual basis with their parent or guardian serving as their coach.) Competitions are organized and athletes are seeded into their chosen events by age and individual level of ability. Achieving personal goals is the focus of the Tournament of Champions events. All athletes receive awards for their efforts. On the Local & Regional levels, athletes earn 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th place ribbons. Athletes who participate in state events, compete for Gold, Silver, & Bronze medals. DETERMINATION ~ PRIDE ~ COURAGE The Tournament of Champions helps each athlete learn to play hard and compete to the best of their ability. This helps to create a cycle of success and to overcome the pattern of failure and frustration that often plagues Special Needs Children who do not always have opportunities to participate, compete and achieve in sports. For many of these children it is the only time they will ever compete successfully. For others, it is a new awareness of what possibilities are given to them in athletics. For all, it is a chance to extend themselves, to learn to win and to compete without winning. |
